Alejandro Vera

Alejandro Vera was born in Torreón, Coahuila México, in 1990. When he finished his studies as a violin and guitar music technician, he studied the Bachelor in Music Composition degree under the tutelage of Roberto Carlos Flores by the University of Nuevo Leon in Monterrey, Mexico and Master's degree under the tutelage of Berislav Šipuš at the University of Zagreb, Academy of Music in Zagreb, Croatia.

In 2013 he was selected for the composition course with Salvatore Sciarrino and Luis Bacalov in the Accademia Musicale Chigiana in Siena, Italy. Also, in 2014 he went to the International Course for Composers Synthetis with professor Zygmunt Krauze, Alessandro Solbiati, Chen Yi, Paul Patterson and Paul Hendrich at the Radziejowice Palace in Poland.

Additionally, he attended master classes and courses with Carola Bauckholt, Pedro Oliveira, Ivan Fedele, Julio Estrada, among others.

His music has been performed by different ensembles such as Irvine Arditti, Cantus Ansambl, Siqueiros Trio, Borderlands Ensemble, Maciej FrÄ…ckiewicz, Juanmanuel Flores, Wilfrido Terrazas, Cromano Quartet, Chamber Orchestra of the UANL, Prana Quintet, Andrea Pedron, Eusebio Sanchez among others, and in different parts of the world such as Italy, Croatia, United States, Spain, Colombia, Poland and Mexico.

He has received numerous residences, scholarship and prizes such as PECDA Coahuila 2012, 2018 and 2021, Music production CONARTE 2014, Coahuila Resilient Art 2020 and Nuevo Leon Composer Center 2015, 2021 and 2023.

​

He has also collaborated with the "Ballet de Monterrey", creating orchestrations and arrangements on two occasions. The most recent collaboration was with the original ballet "Maximiliano y Carlota" by Caleb Ruiz and Thiago Soares.

​

At the same time, Alejandro has developed a career as composer, vocalist, guitarist and producer of his solo rock project Robin Flynn. In which he explores various genres, from math rock to dream pop, using complex harmonic sequences based on contrasts and less common rhythmic modes and song structures.

​

He currently teaches music theory at Tecnológico de Monterrey Campus Monterrey.
